Frequent Firehouse visitor. This is my first visit to this location and the customer service was superb! I was impressed by the fun, personalized experience. Food was good but they fell short a star when my sandwich was cooler than I'm used to and my onions weren't quite carmalized... but I'll be back for another meal.

Just had the new meatball sub, and I was not disappointed. Last year, I got a taste for one and ate at a rival sub shop, because, at the time Firehouse did not have meatball subs. It was bland, tasteless, and left me wanting. My memories of a great meatball sub were fading, never to be re-lived. Until now...Firehouse Meatball Sub has blown away my memories of what a great meatball sub should be. The meat is perfectly spiced, the marinara sauce tangy, and the cheeses real! It was a tasty hot mess. Service was friendly, but can be slow, but that is to prepare your food! Be patient, and be ready for making memories of what a meatball sub should be! I love it! It has FLAVOR! Word to the wise; if you can, eat it in the shop, as it can get messy inside the styro-container on the car ride home, and the bread a bit soggy. Otherwise, flawless sub!

**Overall Rank 4.7/5** Best tasting sub of the sub/sandwich fast food genre; (Subway, Quiznos, Jimmy Johns) **Food - Portion size 5/5** Kudos to Firehouse for actually putting meat on their sandwich. Unlike other sub places, a Firehouse is more than bread. **Food - Taste 4/5** With more meat, comes more flavor than just bread. I've only eaten the Italian, twice. It was so good the first time, I don't want to sacrifice a good thing. Get it "all the way". Delicious. **Location 5/5** Located on Rivers Ave, right in the heart of all N. Charleston work life. **Parking 4/5** Small parking lot shared with a strip mall. Can be hard to find parking if it is busy during the week. **Cleanliness 5/5** Nothing to complain about. **Originality 3/5** Nothing special. Just subs, but they compensate with portion size and flavor. **Service 5/5** Easy order process and drink area. The staff is always helpful and patient. **Price 5/5** For the quality compared to competition, they are the best. **Wait 5/5** From time to order to complete about 5-8 minutes. Even on the busiest days. **Atmosphere 5/5** Very open and casual place with paintings of firefighter scenes everywhere. TV with news or sports on all the time.

Ehh, it's no better than Quizno's or Subway. I had an Italian, and honestly, it had no taste. The only good part about the experience was the Coke machine (designed by Pininfarina - think Ferrari) that allows you to mix basically any Coke product with a different flavor, so it's easy to make Cherry Vanilla Coke Zero, or whatever the heck else you care to have. They're also a shade more expensive than most sub shops, but that's probably because most (all?) of their subs are hot, rather than cold. I'll stick myself across the street at Jersey Mike's, though. I prefer that any day, and twice on Sundays.

Great atmosphere. We really enjoy this place when we come with the kids. They get little fireman hats that are entertaining.

The meat was good, but way to expensive for the size, there was nothing on my sandwich but meat mustard and cheese, even though I asked for Lettuce, tomato, mayo. For my husband and myself it was 22 dollars and we each had a 8 inch with drink and a chip, 15 okay, but 22 and my sandwich had 3 ingredients. I hope all that extra goes to a good cause. After we left my husband ate a box of cheese-its. Best part about this store was the nice man outside holding a sign in the humidity, and doing it with a smile.

I'm grateful that I visited this place on a friend's recommendation before ever hearing their radio commercials on 104.5. Seriously, the commercials are stupid and it bothers me to think about the fact that a few cents of every dollar I spend there go on to pay for the ads that make me turn to a different station. With that said, I love the subs. The bread is excellent, the meat and cheeses are steamed (read: moist), and the service is fast and friendly. Although, come to think of it, the "friendly" service is a bit overdone at times. Maybe I'm getting old and crotchety but I don't like that 5 employees seem to be racing to say "welcome to Firehouse!" the instant I walk in the door. I hope it says something about the quality of food that so much of what they do (apart from making my sandwich) annoys me but they still manage to land 4 stars. I'll take their sandwiches any day over Subway or Quizno's (both of which I do enjoy, but not nearly as much). Also, they have one of Coke's freestyle machines...for this alone I would give them 4.5 stars instead of 4 if Yelp would let me.

I'm not really fan of this type of food but I wish I was because some of it is healthy. Tried the #10 didn't like it so I got a meatball sub 8-inch and though its 1250 calories, it was delicious! The white bread really offsets the sauce, meat, and cheese. Definitely worth a try.

Best sub around. Try the "hook and ladder".

I had high hopes for this place as it was reccomended by my coworkers but for the price the food is sub par. Its obvious the employees are in a rush the way they hash everything together and that where the quality goes right out the door. They're not very knowledgeable about their own menu and I find their subs comparable to Subway. I'm not big on subs or sammies and after two trips here wont be going back.
